About the Programme:
Italian and French style – the first with its characteristic melody, and the second with l’esprit and witty finesse. The two main styles of musical Baroque, widely used by the composers. Händel surpassed all others.

Bio:
The Croatian Baroque Ensemble is the most significant Croatian ensemble specializing in the historically faithful interpretation of music from the baroque and other periods close to the baroque, on original instruments and faithful replicas. The ensemble was established in 1999, and it gathers young musicians, instrumentalists and singers who already have relevant experience in performing baroque music. The artistic leader of the ensemble is our renowned violinist, Laura Vadjon.In addition to regular concert cycles, including seven concerts in the Croatian Music Institute, with clearly planned thematic programmes, they are regular guests at a number of domestic and foreign festivals (Varaždin Baroque Evenings, Summer Festival in Dubrovnik, Split Summer Festival, Zagreb Baroque Festival, Musical Evenings in St Donat, Histria Festival, Concerts at Basilica Euphrasiana, Rovinj Summer Festival, Evenings in Lubenice, Mostar Festival, Pag Summer Festival, Brod Summer Festival, Festival of Croatian Music in Vienna, International Church Music Festival of Central European countries in Rome, Brežice Festival, Tesori Musicali Toscani Festival in Pisa, etc.)
In their programmes, the ensemble frequently hosts soloists and directors who are experts in the authentic approach to performing baroque music (Richard Egarr, Herve Niquet, Werner Ehrhardt, Catherine Mackintosh, Aapo Hakkinen, David Staff, Theresa Caudle, Mimi Mitchell and Peter Lönnerberg, among others). Thanks to their exceptionally professional, stylistically clear and technically perfect interpretations, music critics and audiences alike place them at the top of Croatian musicians doing historical reproductions.
The Croatian Baroque Ensemble regularly plays pieces written by Croatian composers and composers who were active in this area (F. Sponga-Usper, G. Usper, T. Cecchini, V. Jelić, I. Lukačić, G. Puliti, L. Sorkočević, etc.). Laura Vadjon and Mario Penzar’s CD with Croatian and Italian baroque sonatas is called Cecchini & Co.
The ensemble structure is flexible and adaptable to various programmes. It varies from a trio to high-volume projects with a chamber choir and soloists. The ensemble has performed in Croatia, Italy, Austria, Germany, France, Spain, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Argentina and Bolivia.
